The board of Brazil's Minas Gerais state water utility Copasa (Bovespa: CSMG3) has approved a 1.05bn-real (US$515mn) waterworks investment plan for 2013, according to a company release disclosing minutes from the latest board meeting.

A total of 900mn reais will go toward Copasa itself, 150mn reais toward its subsidiary Copanor, which covers the north and northeast regions of the state, and 880,000 reais toward subsidiary Copasa Águas Minerais de Minas, which provides bottled water for the municipalities of Caxambu, Cambuquira, Lambari and Araxá.
The funding will be transferred through the state government, the release said.
Also during the meeting, two tenders worth a total 19.2mn reais were approved. Budgeted at 12.2mn reais, the largest one involves a 20-month project to improve, expand and maintain the sewerage system in the east region of state capital Belo Horizonte.
The initiative involves work on collector and interceptor pipelines of up to 400mm and sewer system connections. It also entails topographical, geotechnical and backhoe services.
The second tender, priced at 7.1mn reais, contemplates a 20-month project for the same work in the southeast region of the state capital. This project also includes developing studies and a basic plan.
